The wedding. Homage to Rosseau. 150 x 90 cm.

The project comprises a series of paintings and collages that reinterpret some of the most representative works of the Western artistic tradition. Through the appropriation and transformation of these images, together with the incorporation of text, colour, and elements associated with kitsch aesthetics, the works establish a critical and ironic dialogue with art history and its modes of representation.

The series explores issues related to queer and leather cultures, examining the relationship between the private and the public, as well as constructions of gender, masculinity, and desire. From a playful and provocative perspective, it challenges certain patriarchal paradigms associated with passivity and submission, while drawing on stereotypical and hypermasculine gay imagery in order to subvert and re-signify it.

In this sense, appropriation, humour, and kitsch aesthetics function as tools for reflecting on identity, sexuality, power, and representation, proposing a queer re-reading of the Western artistic canon.
